The International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) revealed the 2020 World’s Best Tourism Films. The 33rd edition of the World Best Tourism Film Awards took place virtually from the Belvedere Palace in Vienna, Austria. A magnificent Baroque palace, home to one of Austria's most valuable art collections - featuring the main works by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka, among others.
Over the past 32 years, the city of music and palaces has been the host of the Festival of Festivals, the Grand Prix CIFFT: the most prestigious award initiative in the Travel Video Marketing Industry.
Alexander V. Kammel, CIFFT Director, presented the “Tourism Oscars”. Austria, France, and Spain were the countries with the most awards, 3 for each, followed by Chile and Japan with 2 winners and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Lithuania, Myanmar and Portugal with one award.
Throughout the year, more than 3500 videos from more than 130 countries, competed in the festivals that make up the circuit 2020: New York (USA), Los Angeles (USA), Cannes (France), Berlin (Germany), Zagreb (Croatia), Warsaw (Poland), Riga (Latvia), Tortosa (Spain), Viseu (Portugal), Veliko Tarnovo (Bulgaria), Amorgos (Greece), Veliko Gradiste (Serbia), Osaka (Japan), Capadoccia (Turkey), Cape Town (South Africa) and Vienna (Austria).
To reach the TOP, the participants need to achieve the largest number of awards at the member festivals and get enough points to reach the first places in one of the six thematic categories of the CIFFT Ranking List: Tourism Destination Country Promotion, Tourism Destinations Region Promotion, Tourism Destination City Promotion, Tourism Services, Tourism Products, and Independent Travel Videos.
The films that reached the top three positions in each thematic category received the prestigious awards and the coveted title of World’s Best Tourism Film 2020.
