Goals of the film
We show this movie as an opening film in the PINHAIS Factory Tour. Pinhais is the last existing sardine factory in Portugal, that still manufactures sardines in the traditional, artisanal method under its iconic brand NURI. This film stands as an attunement for the factory visitors.
The Portuguese mentality refers a lot to “Saudade”. Saudade is a Portuguese word for a sad state of intense longing for someone or something. It also is described as a kind of melancholic yearning.
We want to combine this very emotional attitude to life on the Atlantic coast with our Brand NURI. So, we created this movie that addresses a common situation for Portuguese people – living in a diaspora, far away from home and longing for their loved ones.
Target Group
We set an emotional atmosphere to capture the visitor’s attention to lifelong tradition and engagement for the Fishermen’s (and their families’) craft. Our sardine factory is set in the heartland of ancient Portuguese fishing tradition.
By showing this movie, we believe to touch local and international guests that are interested to learn more about traditional Portuguese canning methods. We aim to emotionalize the visitors right at the beginning of their journey to enhance the brand experience and to open them for the tour ahead of them.

We want to show the visitors of this ancient Portuguese sardine factory, that still works under the same procedure as 100 years ago. Families with their offspring reach even out to nowadays NYC Downtown lifestyle.
The Portuguese diaspora can carry local lifestyle and traditions to far away countries and spread a very positive and open-minded lifestyle. At the same time, this special Portuguese feeling of Saudade that the film expresses will resonate will the Portuguese visitors especially.
