The Japan World's Tourism Film Festival 2023, held in Shiga from March 14th to 16th, has announced the winners. This 5th edition, which marks the first stage of the CIFFT Circuit 2023, featured 1418 entries from over 100 countries, showing the power of video to inspire travel and promote cultural exchange.
On March 16th, the Award Ceremony took place at the Izukanda Shrine, a traditional temple in Shiga, where the best videos from the national and international competitions were celebrated.
The International Grand Prix was assigned to "Jiwa Jagad Jawi," a video from Wonderful Indonesia that features impressive storytelling and images to entice people to explore the Island of Java's rich history, deep cultural roots, and spirituality.
The festival awarded 20 other videos in the International Competition in categories related to the promotion of tourism destinations, products, and services, as well as Travel & Tourism DOC.
The Asia Grand Prix went to "24-Hour Keelung," a video from Taiwan that showcases Keelung's attractions in the form of Japanese pop/rap music.

The festival program included forums on tourism development and promotion with Shiga Prefecture, Yoron Island, and Takashima, as well as discussions about the films in competition and the latest trends in tourism filmmaking.
The Japan World's Tourism Film Festival is a platform for filmmakers to exhibit their skills and enthusiasm. The festival also featured the Art & Factory, a special competition challenging filmmakers to create videos during the festival to showcase the beauty of Lake Biwa in Shiga and Yoron in the Kagoshima Prefecture.
JWTFF aims to encourage the local tourism industry to produce high-quality videos that showcase Japan's cultural and natural riches to a global audience, as well as celebrate the best tourism films from around the world.
Since 2021 the festival has been a member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) and part of the CIFFT Circuit, the biggest competition for tourism ads, promotional, and social media videos, which will define the World’s Best Tourism Films 2023.
