Amorgos, Greece – November 19th, 2024 – The 15th Amorgos International Tourism Film Festival celebrated the art of tourism filmmaking from November 14th to 19th on the scenic island of Amorgos, Greece. This year’s festival honored 24 outstanding tourism audiovisual productions across categories that highlight tourism destinations, products, and services worldwide.
At the award ceremony hosted at the Aegialis Hotel & Spa, the festival's top accolade, the Grand Prix Amorgos 2024, was presented to "The Perfect Shot," by Switzerland Tourism. This exceptional YouTube series follows four talented travel photographers from different corners of the globe on a quest to capture the essence of Switzerland through diverse challenges. The production also secured the 1st Prize in the Country Promotion category.
Other noteworthy winners in this year’s edition were Travel Alberta (Canada), Singapore Tourism Board (Singapore), Visit Sweden (Sweden), Osaka Prefectural Government (Japan), Marshal's Office of Lower Silesia (Poland), Tortosa City Council (Spain), Nazaré Municipality (Portugal), Tourism Center of Portugal (Portugal), Rota Vicentina Association (Portugal), and the Consortium of Municipalities of Ponte de Lima, Barcelos, Paredes de Coura, and Valença (Portugal).
The festival also spotlighted independent travel videos, with winners from Peru, Croatia, Ecuador, and Thailand. The documentary category recognized outstanding productions from the USA, Antarctica, Martinique, and Spain.
Beyond the awards, the festival offered an immersive program, featuring the 7th Amorgos Cinema Academy, where international students and professors engaged in workshops and lectures. Running in parallel, the 21st YPERIA Conference for Culture delved into the rich cultural heritage of the Cyclades, with special presentations on Amorgos and its neighboring islands.
Throughout the week, the international guests embraced the opportunity to delve into Amorgos’ stunning landscapes and rich culture, experiencing firsthand the distinctive charm and creative allure that captivate filmmakers and artists year after year.
The Amorgos Tourism Film Festival is an annual event organized by The Women’s Cultural Association of Amorgos, in collaboration with the Municipality of Amorgos and the South Aegean Region. Since 2017, the festival has been an official member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) and part of the CIFFT Circuit.
As the final stage of the CIFFT Circuit 2024, the results of the Amorgos Tourism Film Festival were essential in determining the World’s Best Tourism Films of the Year, to be honored at the 36th World Tourism Film Awards in Valencia, Spain, on November 27th.
