Tourism film festivals provide a platform for industry professionals to showcase their work, gain recognition through awards, exchange ideas, and explore new trends. At the forefront of this movement is the Terres Travel Festival, a unique event held in Tortosa, Spain, the heart of the Terres de l'Ebre region.
Founded in 2016 by Santi Valldepérez, the Terres Travel Festival is a platform that combines prestigious awards, conferences, film screenings, and diverse cultural activities, all centered around audiovisual communication in tourism with a special focus on sustainability. The event is also known for fostering a unique atmosphere that actively engages the local community.
In 2019, the festival gained further recognition by becoming an official member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), joining the prestigious CIFFT Circuit, a global competition for tourism videos and campaigns.
As the festival prepares for its 9th edition, scheduled for September 13-21, 2024, we spoke with Santi Valldepérez to gain insights into what participants can expect.
What makes your festival a standout event for filmmakers and representatives from the tourism industry?
Undoubtly, fourism film festivals are lighthouses that help companies and filmmakers to find new ways to achieve excellence. At Terres Travel Festival, we try to do our best to provide the best networking opportunities for the professionals that attend our festival. Year after yer we analyze exhaustly the different events that configure our festival and try to improve every single element.
What does being a CIFFT member represent for your festival?
Being a CIFFT member gives a solid structure for the competition. Plus, the standards required by CIFFT force us to be better year after year. Not to mention the wonderful networking that CIFFT provides for its members. Being the exclusive member of CIFFT in Spain gives us also recognition among the stakeholders in our country. I only see benefits in being a CIFFT member.
Looking ahead to the 2024 edition of your festival, what can participants expect?
2024 will bring some novelties within the competition at Terres Festival, the Award Ceremony and the networking opportunities.
