Amorgos, Greece – November 16th, 2023 – The 14th Amorgos Tourism Film Festival was held between the 12th and 17th of November in Amorgos, Greece. The festival awarded 22 promotional videos and documentaries across seven thematic categories related to tourism promotion. The winners were revealed during an award ceremony at the Aegialis Hotel and Spa.
The promotional film “No one upstages the Grand Tour of Switzerland”, produced by Stories AG and Wirz for Switzerland Tourism, was acclaimed with the festival Grand Prix. The remarkable campaign, starring Roger Federer and the Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, also received the 1st Prize in Tourism Products.
Other awards were assigned to tourism videos from Bielsko-Biała City Hall (Poland), Catalan Tourist Board (Spain), Cuban Ministry of Tourism (Cuba), Madrid Destino (Spain), NewHandLab (Portugal), Tourism Center of Portugal (Portugal), Turismo de Islas Canarias (Spain), Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (Türkiye), and Visit Cascais (Portugal), among other organizations and film producers.
The Amorgos Tourism Film Festival aims to become a networking platform for the tourism film industry and promote the region's culture and sustainable tourism. The festival program featured a Film Academy and the YPERIA Conference for Culture and Tourism, which addressed topics such as tourism, audiovisual, environmental issues, and the preservation of the local natural and cultural heritage.
During the festival days, the attendees also had the opportunity to get to know the main spots of Amorgos Island and immerse themselves in the local culture.
The International Amorgos Film Festival is an annual event co-organized by the Amorgos Cultural Women Association and the Municipality of Amorgos. It counts with the support of the Greek Tourism Organization.
Since 2017, the festival has been an official member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) and part of the CIFFT Circuit, a global competition that will award the World’s Best Tourism Films of the Year at the 35th World Tourism Film Awards, on the 22nd of November, in Valencia (Spain).
