Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, 27th October 2023 - The ART&TUR International Tourism Film Festival, which took place from October 24th to 27th in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, celebrated the very best in tourism videos and documentaries from around the world. The festival culminated in the awards ceremony held on October 27th, where exceptional filmmakers and content creators were honored across various categories.
In its 16th edition, the ART&TUR received entries from 47 countries. The competition was fierce, and the international festival jury had the challenge of selecting the winners from a set of remarkable entries.
This year’s International Grand Prix was assigned to the production “Morocco Arise”, which also won the 1stprize in the category Expeditions & Adventures. The film captivated the jury with stunning visuals and storytelling.
In the National Competition, “Nazaré - Bigger Than Life” received the Grand Prix. The video garnered acclaim not only on the national stage but also on the international competition. It secured a 1st Prize in Innovation in Tourism, a 2nd Prize in Destinations Cities, and a 2nd Prize in Sport & Leisure.
This year, the festival also presented a third competition dedicated to Brazilian productions, strengthening ties with Brazilian producers and tourism organizations.
More than 50 productions were awarded in categories such as Tourism Destination Cities, Regions, Countries, Tourism Services, Tourism Products, Culture & Heritage, Environment & Ecology, Sustainable Tourism Issues, and Destination Branding, among others.
Apart from the awards, the festival brought together the Center of Portugal, a global community of tourism enthusiasts, filmmakers, industry professionals, and students.
During four days, the Caldas da Rainha Cultural Center has become the main stage for discussing current themes related to audiovisual production, tourism, and sustainability through talks and film screenings of the 82 films that were part of the festival's shortlist. The program, which also included cultural activities as a concert of Iconic Cinema Music, was designed to foster both creativity and networking opportunities.
The festival featured the ART&FACTORY, a competition where international teams embraced the challenge of creating a video to promote the host city during the festival's days. Even amidst the Portuguese rain, creativity thrived, and the video "Caldas da Rainha Magnific" produced by the talented team from "Brazil" convinced the jury and earned the coveted award.
Organized by the Center of Portugal Film Commission and the Tourism Center of Portugal, with the support of Caldas da Rainha Municipality, the ART&TUR International Tourism Film Festival served as a platform for promoting tourism, fostering creativity, and celebrating the art of storytelling through film.
Since 2008, the festival has been a member festival of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) and part of the CIFFT Circuit competition, which brings together international tourism film festivals to award the World’s Best Tourism Films of the Year.
