Serbia is home of incredible natural beauty, such as valleys, rivers and mountains that cut across the country, which is firmly committed to environmental protection. It is also home of the International Festival of Tourism and Ecology Films - Silver Lake Tourfilm Festival, founded in Veliko Gradište, early in November 2008.
Sustainable Tourism, “Tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities” (UNWTO), is widely discussed today on several platforms, including Tourism Films.
Silafest stands out for having tourism and ecology as its essential guidelines and also competitive sessions, becoming a stage where the best tourism films are recognized and awarded.
The festival is open for promotional films, documentaries and TV Reports related to Tourism with a sustainable perspective. Annually, the festival’s program includes forums, networking opportunities, film screenings, cultural experiences in the host city, and an Award Ceremony.
Silafest is organized in cooperation with partners who have a direct interest in realizing such programmes: National Tourism Organization of Serbia, Tourist Organization of Veliko Gradište, and the College of Tourism in Belgrade.
Since 2010, Silafest is an official member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), which brings together the 14 World’s Best Tourism Film Festivals from four continents, at the most prestigious awards and recognition initiative in the Travel Video Marketing Industry - The World’s Best Tourism Film Awards.

GRADISTE! The legend says that a long time ago, a cart loaded with various goods arrived in town. Asked whether he really had to come every day, the trader laconically answered, “I have to, this a big town requires (“Veliki grad iste”). That’s how the town got its name.
It has a nice entrance, clean streets, an old bazaar preserved from Turkish times, a well-stocked market, a beautiful spacious square, a centennial park with monuments to the soldiers of World Wars I and II and a monument to Vlastimir Pavlovic Carevic, a beautifully paved esplanade from the town to the Silver Lake, beaches on the Danube and the Pek.
The beautiful town centre - Zitni Trg (Grain Square) with the district office (municipal building), the library which harbours a permanent exhibition of sculptures by Milan Besarabic, and the high school. And above all, a rich cultural and entertainment life from May until September.
